Hello and Happy Holidays from Camp Wool!

While cooler weather has definitely settled in we are still quite comfortable and open for business here Downeast!! Our hours are still the same: Wed. through Sat. 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Many have asked about the holidays and how long we will be open this year. We have just posted our Thanksgiving hours. Basically we'll just closed one additional day, which is the Friday after Thanksgiving.

As to the longer holiday season/winter, I wish I had the full answer on that but until we get to steady freezing temperatures we won’t know if our water at our home will stay running! Here’s what I do know: as I write this, we are hopeful to stay open till sometime mid-January. We will then close for a few months but be open for what I am calling “Pop Up Saturdays” during late Jan, Feb and part of March! After the second week of December I should know more and will post updates here on the website and Facebook.

In the meantime, we continue to field calls requesting merchandise and please know that we are happy to mail you anything you might need. Sometimes that means a few text messages to get colors right but we are happy to do it. So during the busy holiday season, if you need anything give us a call!

A word on weather. Because it is that time of the year where we might get snow or ice, it’s best to call ahead or check Facebook if you are wondering if we are open or not on a day over day basis. Take note that the website takes longer to update, so on a day-to-day basis check our shop voice mail or Facebook for updates when weather might be an issue.

May you all have a safe and pleasant holiday season! We thank you for your business!!

Take care.

LeAnn

What a fun way for rug hookers to spend a weekend! It is always fun to explore new creative avenues with fellow fiber fans! In Snapshots, you will learn to create a pictoral piece using a mix of wool noodles, yarn, silk, roving and various other fibers from start to finish. Impressionistic styling lets you imply the details while conveying the ambiance of the scene. You will learn to analyze your photo to find the bones that become the structure of your finished piece. We will build on that using directional hooking techniques developing a foreground, mid-ground, horizon line, and sky. Color planning, outlining, and perspective will be discussed. Sunday we will discuss how to finish and display the piece. Discussion on framing options will also be offered.
